About Julie

Hello!

Thank you for visiting my newly designed website! This is an extremely exciting time for me as I am currently working my way back to the full-time professional circuit. As many of you already know, but for those of you who don't, my name is Julie and for over 24 years golf has been a huge part of my life and someday soon my dreams of becoming a member of the LPGA Tour will come true.

I was born and raised in Eugene, Oregon (GO DUCKS!). I grew up loving the game of golf as my father was the Head Golf Professional at Springfield Country Club and my brother was constantly looking for competition on the course. So many of my childhood memories center around the game of golf and summers closing down the golf course.

I grew up as a part of the Oregon Junior Golf Program and played for the Marist High School boys team my freshman year, before playing on the newly formed girls team the rest of my high school career. I attended the University of Idaho on a full-athletic scholarship and graduated in December of '02 with a B.S. in Public Communication, as well as a Big West Team Conference Championship, two years First Team-All Conference, and a Big West Player of the Year Award. The following year, I made my way out to the Duramed Futures Tour and for nearly 3 years struggled to find success as well as the funding to really follow my dream of being a professional golfer.

My ability to stay positive was becoming increasingly difficult and I knew that to make it I just needed to, as my dad always says, 'keep pluggin' and it'll all fall into place somehow.' I needed a push in the right direction.

An opportunity to show everybody that if I was just given a chance, I could find the success that I've always dreamed of. In October of 2005 I got that chance. I received a phone call from the Golf Channel’s Big Break asking if I could be a last minute addition to their cast of the Big Break V: Hawaii. The next morning I flew to Oahu to spend the next two weeks at the North Shore’s Turtle Bay Resort.

Since the show, I have spent time in both Portland, Oregon and Palm Springs, California. Over the past 20 months I have worked as the Communications Coordinator as well as First Tee Program Director for the Oregon Golf Association in Woodburn, Oregon. Although a wonderful organization and the perfect opportunity to explore another career, my passion has once again become clear to me.

I recently qualified for the 2010 Duramed Futures Tour season and in preparation have moved back down to Palm Springs to work during the off-season at Indian Wells Country Club while fine-tuning my game for the upcoming tournament schedule.

I am extremely excited to go back out and chase my dreams. I invite you to follow me on this journey as I am expecting plenty of highs and lows and would love the opportunity to share this very unique experience with you.

Thanks for taking the time to get to know me and my story! I look forward to hearing from you all in the future!
